Setting a Due Month Rather than a Due Date
Kathleen Murray, MS, CNM

When working with a client who has recently discovered she is pregnant, photocopy the pregnancy wheel set on the client’s due date range. Mark on the photo copy the 37-42 week period this reinforces the due month rather than the due date and gives the woman and her family an easy reference for her gestation throughout the pregnancy. Then write the names of the parents on the paper, and make a few notes around the wheel. You may also want to add the expected time of quickening, when to plan a diabetes test, or the parameters for when they can do a Prenatal Risk Profile or triple test test.
